The story is very sad. Yet, woven in the story is hope, forgiveness, healing, love, and compassion. Donavan has discovered these for himself. Donavan’s tears are not for himself but out of love and compassion for his son. Donavan’s beseeching Michael to come home is allegorical. Home is the forgiveness and healing that Michael needs to heal, go on, and grow in his life.

I wrote this story in a very vague way so that the reader could fill in the blanks with their own story and perhaps find their way HOME.

Thank you for your words of encouragement. Life does not always become easier, but we can learn of peace in contentment even in the storms.
