Thanks, Hank for your kind words. I realize that many people have little interaction with the disabled and might feel awkward around them. When my daughter was in public, Well-meaning people would talk directly to me instead of engaging Grace in conversation as if she was deaf or non-communicative. She would look at me. The expression on her face conveyed, “Please, I am perfectly able to speak for myself.” I would explain to her that it was not her problem. People often feel uncomfortable with what they don’t understand. She learned to live up to her name and would show grace.
