I could not agree with this statement more. What was meant to reconnect old friends, acquaint new friends has devolved into a political, philosophical, and religious Maginot line. People have gathered into their enclaves and volley fiery barbs back and forth.

Mostly, they speak to themselves. They have de-friended and blocked anyone with an opposing view. This only feeds the delusion that everyone thinks like they do and emboldens them to stand firm.

It has not helped the discourse nor encouraged a positive communal connection.
