Brilliant story Matt. I have worked in IT since the late 90s. It always amazed me when people found out that they didn't truly own that software in the box, they bought for several hundred dollars. All intellectual property rights are owned by the manufacturer and to be used based on the End-user License agreement (EULA) that no one reads or understands.
All pretense as to who owns what is gone now that software-as-a- service with subscription based licensing is the norm.
